Located in the heart of the port of Barcaggio, the house is referenced among the mansions found in Corsica, under the name of "i palazzi" because often inspired by the neoclassical models of Tuscan villas. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century by the father of Louis-Napoleon Mattei, founder of the L.N Mattei company, a well-known wine and spirits company in Corsica. Hence its name “Maison Mattei”. Its main facade overlooks the port of Barcaggio while the opposite facade opens onto a very large garden that we do not suspect, planted with palm trees and featuring an oriental-inspired kiosk.

On three living levels, this 230 m2 house is steeped in history and has kept its authentic appearance (floor tiles and cement tiles, old-style cupboards and in the kitchen, an old element of very Corsican kitchens). well preserved and enhanced, called "the vegetable garden"). This house has of course been renovated over the years to provide more comfort and modern equipment.

On the ground floor, alley level, there is a large kitchen all in length with this magnificent "vegetable garden" and also all the equipment that makes this kitchen functional. Opposite the kitchen, a large room with a vaulted ceiling has been transformed into a ping-pong room which will delight children and adults. A large corridor, very bright thanks to these large openings, gives access to a bathroom with toilet and to the garden as well as to the central staircase, very well preserved, which gives access to the different floors. On level + 1, you will find a living/dining room with a view of the port of Barcaggio, two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds, and a bathroom with a toilet that overlooks the Harbor. Level +2 has a bedroom with a single bed and access to the balcony and two bedrooms with a double bed that have sea views. Another bedroom with a double bed faces west (mountain side). A child's bedroom with single bed and cot is located to the east. You will thus have 12 beds (4 double beds, 4 single beds and 1 cot).

Outside, you will be charmed by the vast enclosed garden, its palm trees and its kiosk, quite surprising for its architecture and its cement tile floor where you can take your meals and bask in the shade. Children will be delighted to make this vast garden their space for relaxation and games. The house has wifi connection but there is no television. It is not equipped with air conditioning. Given the stairs, it is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. THE STRONG POINTS: its charm, its authenticity as a family home, its location in the heart of Barcaggio and its vast garden.
